We discuss some of 2019’s trending looks in home decor.
As the year 2019 comes to an end, the new year is a great opportunity to reboot and embrace change (especially in your home)! If you are thinking of updating your home or simply looking for some design inspiration, there is no better time to make the phrase ‘out with the old and in with the new’ your mantra. To get a headstart on the upcoming interior trends for 2019, we spoke to several of our favourite influencers on their trend predictions for the coming year.
My trend predictions for next year will be:
Black is the new white! I love how versatile black is and how much of a statement it makes to the overall decor. Going into 2019, expect to see it teamed with warm neutrals, wood, browns, beiges and golds.
Neutral colours such as nudes, oatmeal and stonewash linen will slowly start to replace the much favorited and popular grey colour that we all know and love too. These shades will be paired with crisp white and black accents and rustic or natural woods.
Going into 2019, expect to see it teamed with warm neutrals, wood, browns, beiges and golds.
For gold, autumn/winter going through into next year we will start seeing it teamed up with the more moodier colours such as blues, greens and black.
Velvet beds, sofas, footstools, and chairs have been a popular trend this year and this too will go in to the new year.
We saw a lot of geometric patterns a few years back on lots of rugs and cushions but expect to see it featured on walls, floors and even ceilings!
Wallpaper will continue to be very on trend, with bold styles, murals and textured wallpaper being popular. We often hear about accent walls, and next year, this trend will also be about accent ceilings! Dressing the ceiling with a contrasting wallpaper and plain walls will be a gorgeous surprise to anyone entering the room.

I predict that in 2019, there will be a wider range of soft brown tones trending in paint colours and textiles. These coordinate beautifully with the gorgeous blush and nude pinks of this year, which I don't see disappearing any time soon. I also think that eco friendly materials and products will continue to come to the market, and be integrated into everyday life. I have had the pleasure of working with some great eco brands this year, and I love the ethos of using recycled materials and less plastic.

Emma: The main trend change I think we will see is a shift from dark, moody blues and greys to much fresher, lighter pastel shades. Look out for rich, emerald greens too as well as earthy tones. I also think layering will continue to be big.
Laura: I think we are set to see black making far more of an appearance in our homes. We’ve already started to see other influencers setting the trend, using matte black to create statement interiors in every corner of their home.
Look out for rich, emerald greens too as well as earthy ones.
I predict that houseplants and beautiful botanics are here to stay. Next year we’ll see a development in ‘bringing the outside in’, merging the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
We'll see a development in 'bringing the outside in'', bringing us much closer to nature.
